Self Discovery Poetry

   Happiness

I want you to find your happiness.
I want you to walk through the tall grass and
Let your fingers brush the tops.
I want you to feel no fear and with every step grow
Stronger and more convinced of yourself.
I want you to smile and open yourself to the beauty of
Your life and with each breath you take, may you be filled
With hope and new beginnings. I want you to feel the freedom
You had as a child when every day was an adventure that you
Hoped would never end.
I want you to embrace success and failure never checking your stride
And know it’s only you watching when you try to hide.  I want you to
Go to bed at night in the knowledge you’re more than enough even
Though at times this life is tough.
I want you to give yourself to this life, it’s beautiful, you
Know, now
Go seek this wonder and never let it go.

From Scarecrow in the Garden by Michael Hickey

“In everything I do in life I try understand, but I know there are lots of things I’ll never understand. Poetry helps me put a name or a feeling on something I’m struggling with and allows me to move forward. For me poetry is the beauty between the lines that we can only feel but never really explain.” - Michael Hickey
